Focus and Scope
Mission The mission of Revista Desafio Online, from the School of Administration and Business at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul, is to serve as a source of research and knowledge dissemination for the academic and managerial communities in the areas of Administration, Accounting, and Economics.
Focus The journal's nature is academic, publishing original and unpublished articles that are the result of scientific research. The articles must necessarily bring a theoretical or empirical academic contribution to the field of knowledge. Revista Desafio Online publishes works that encompass topics within the Applied Social Sciences (Administration, Economic Sciences, Accounting), covering discussions ranging from agribusiness strategies to macroeconomic analyses, and research on higher education in the areas of interest. The positions stated in the articles are the exclusive responsibility of their authors. There is a deliberate policy to publish articles from all research groups in the country.
Target Audience Revista Desafio Online is aimed at a broad audience of researchers, professors, students, entrepreneurs, consultants, and other professionals working in public, private, and third-sector organizations, both nationally and internationally.
Peer Review Process
Manuscripts received by Revista Desafio Online are initially submitted to an admission review (desk review). In this phase, the editors analyze: (1) if the work is consistent with the journal's Focus and Scope, and (2) if the Author Guidelines have been followed. Articles accepted in this first phase are forwarded for a merit evaluation using a double-blind review system. Manuscripts are evaluated considering the relevance of the topic to the field, writing quality, the logical connection of the theoretical review with appropriate references, the suitability of methodological procedures, the depth and consistency of the analyses, the delineation of conclusions, and the relevance of the contributions. This stage of the evaluation process can last up to three months, at the end of which authors are notified of the editorial decision. When reviewers request adjustments to the article, authors will be granted a period of thirty to sixty days, at the editor's discretion, to incorporate the required suggestions and corrections. The final decision on whether or not to publish the work is always up to the editor-in-chief, based on the opinions of the other editors and ad hoc consultants. The conclusion of this process does not imply the immediate publication of the article; it is up to the editors, in accordance with editorial policies, to prepare the publication schedule and decide on the appropriate moment for publication.
Periodicity Revista Desafio Online is published quarterly.
Open Access Policy This journal offers immediate open access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public leads to a greater global democratization of knowledge.
Authorship & Responsibility
Authorship In accordance with recommendations from journal indexers, limits on works from authors affiliated with the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) will be respected. No more than one work by the same author will be published each year.
Responsibility for Content None of the organizations or people involved in the councils, committees, or the journal's editing and management process are responsible for the content of the articles. That responsibility lies entirely with the authors of the respective texts. All authors must have participated in the preparation of the articles in a way that allows them to publicly assume responsibility for their content. Qualification as an author must presuppose: a) conception and design or analysis and interpretation of the data, b) writing the article or its critical review, and c) approval of the version to be published.
Journal History
After twelve years of publication in a print version, Revista Desafio transitioned to an online-only version (ISSN 2317-949X) in 2013. As a journal edited by the School of Administration and Business at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), it was deemed appropriate to adapt this electronic journal according to the good practices guidelines for scientific publication from the ANPAD Manual. The most recent Qualis-Capes classification of Revista Desafio Online (2317-949X) is B1 for the areas of Public and Business Administration, Accounting, and Tourism. This is an indicative quality stratum that motivates the journal to consolidate the quality of its processes and the electronic publication of this dissemination vehicle. The electronic version's mission is to be a recognized source of research in the fields of Administration and related areas. To foster interest in its publications and, consequently, increase visits to the journal's page, it freely disseminates scientific articles and applications of knowledge that are original and relevant to its areas of interest. Desafio Online has a quarterly periodicity. To ensure that a new issue is published every four months, rules for article evaluation are established, as well as deadlines for their return to authors. Each published article lists the date it was received and the date it was released for publication. The spontaneous collaboration of the scientific editorial board, composed of recognized researchers from different universities in Brazil and abroad, as well as from research institutes, in indicating reviewers and ensuring the adherence of publications to the areas of interest of Desafio Online, helps guarantee the intended rigor of what is published. All evaluations are performed by two reviewers (a form of blind review), and at the end of each year of publication, a list containing the names and institutions of those who evaluated the published articles is presented on the journal's page. Authors of published works in Desafio Online will be invited to evaluate submitted works, promoting reciprocity within the academic community. Finally, it should be noted that Desafio Online is fully indexed in the SPELL, Latindex, Google Scholar, Portal de Periódicos CAPES/MEC, and Dialnet portals. This aims to increase authors' interest in publishing original results from works that are representative of the journal's interests.
